Wine No 2 from Veins of the Valley Collection

Manzone

La Marchesa 2021

Barbera d'Alba Superiore

Tasting notes

An elegant and powerful red wine whose name echoes a farmhouse that has been in the Manzone family for nearly thirty years. On the nose, intense notes of cherry, blackberry, and tobacco give way to a finish of exceptional length. The Craft

- Hand-harvested at optimal ripeness.
- Whole berries.
- Soft pumping-over for 15 days.
- Aged 20-24 months in French casks.
- 14.5% ABV.
- Lifespan: up to 15-20 years.

The Occasion

La Marchesa is a wine made for the table: generous enough for a grand occasion, yet equally suited to the simple pleasure of an eggplant parmigiana or a perfectly cooked beef tenderloin.

The winemaker

Mauro Manzone

Oenologist Mauro Manzone was, quite literally, born under the sign of the vine. In 1985, his mother Rita was mid-harvest, picking Nebbiolo, when her contractions began. The harvest stopped — and resumed only weeks later. The weather, as it turned out, had been kind, and the season ended with two causes for celebration: the arrival of Mauro, and the bottling of one of the finest vintages of the decade. He is now the winemaker behind Manzone's distinct identity in the Langhe.
