Wine No 1 from Veins of the Valley Collection

Frédéric Berne

Aux Vergers 2023

Beaujolais Lantignié

Tasting notes

This single-vineyard cuvée originates from the very first plot planted at the founding of the Frédéric Berne estate — a lineage that shows in every glass. Full-bodied and expressive, Aux Vergers is a wine of real presence: rich in structure, with silky tannins and a depth of aromas that moves through black fruit and licorice nuances.

The Craft

- Hand-harvested at optimal ripeness.
- Whole berries.
- Semi-carbonic maceration for 15 days.
- Aged 12 months in oak barrels.
- 13% ABV.
- Lifespan: 5 to 10 years.

The Occasion

Filet mignon, terrine, or saucisson: the generosity of Aux Vergers pairs perfectly with hearty dishes and simple moments of togetherness.

The winemaker

Frédéric Berne

Born in the heart of the Beaujolais region to a family rooted in the land, Frédéric Berne grew up immersed in nature and vineyards, and this landscape has come to define him.

His connection to Château des Vergers began by chance: it was while scouting venues for his wedding that he first set eyes on the property, which was at the time seeking a sharecropper. It was love at first sight.

Since 2014, he has been crafting some of the most expressive wines in Beaujolais, guided by a deeply intentional approach to agriculture: one that tends to his estate, its soils, and the exceptional biodiversity that runs through it.
