Wine No 5 from
Manzone
Rosserto 2022
DOC Langhe
We playfully call this our "archaeological wine," because the Manzone family made it with an almost extinct grape called Rossese Bianco. All jokes aside, the wine itself is so unique that opening a bottle feels like discovering an ancient treasure.
I'm a nerd, I want every detail
The Langhe appellation, in northern Italy, originally allowed only six grapes, with Arneis, Favorita, and Chardonnay for white wines. It was not until the early 2010s that Rossese Bianco — saved from extinction by the Manzone family — was officially added to the list. It remains a rare grape, with an intriguing aromatic depth ranging from acacia flowers to cedar notes.

Mauro Manzone
Oenologist Mauro Manzone was, quite literally, born under the sign of the vine. In 1985, his mother Rita was mid-harvest, picking Nebbiolo, when her contractions began. The harvest stopped — and resumed only weeks later. The weather, as it turned out, had been kind, and the season ended with two causes for celebration: the arrival of Mauro, and the bottling of one of the finest vintages of the decade. He is now the winemaker behind Manzone's distinct identity in the Langhe.
